Exeter’s Cultural Strategy,
2025-30
On behalf of Exeter City Council, we're embarking on an exciting journey to support the development of Exeter's new Cultural Strategy, as an update on the Cultural Strategy 2019-2024.
But why, you might ask, do we need a Cultural Strategy anyway?
What has this got to do with me?
Culture isn't just about art galleries and performances – it's the beating heart of our community. It's the festivals that bring us together, the stories that define us, and the traditions that connect us across generations.
A strong cultural identity doesn't just enrich our lives – it fosters social cohesion, encourages new ideas, projects and organisations and puts Exeter on the map as a vibrant and dynamic city.
We need a Cultural Strategy to show the world who Exeter is. This process of consultation will also allow us as residents to feedback what exactly the city needs and want; it gives us a guide to collectively work on improving and supporting the places and cultural spaces in which we spend our everyday lives.
How can I get involved?
Your input matters more than ever and, together, we'll build a cultural future that we can all be proud of.
Our survey platform – Imagine My Exeter – will go live after May 2024, followed by a series of public consultations and stakeholder meetings throughout June and July -- what we’re calling “You’re the Exeperts” sessions. Whether you're a community group, a local business, or just passionate about our city's cultural scene, we want to hear from you. That’s why, as well as launching our platform, we’ll be encouraging members of our community to host group sessions inspired by Norway’s local democracy Gjestebud process, and Exeter City of Literature’s Little Frawzy meetings.
We will be in touch about the ways in which you can engage in this exciting process.
Get involved and make your mark on Exeter's cultural landscape.
