Cathie Hartigan

Writer

I’ve published two shortlisted novels, both set in Exeter and Italy and many short stories, one of which was dramatized by Exeter University drama students. A musician by profession this, as well as my keen interest in historical research, is reflected in my writing. Inspired by our teaching experiences, author Margaret James and I co-authored three creative writing textbooks. I’ve co-produced two anthologies by Exeter Writers and hosted a writing workshop for Literature Works. A poetry cycle of mine was set to music by local composers and, supported by the RSPB, it was performed at Paignton Zoo and the RAMM.

After several years teaching creative writing at Exeter College I left to set up CreativeWritingMatters.co.uk, which offers author services and runs the Exeter Novel Prize and Exeter Story Prize. I’m also the Programme Director for the Exeter Literary Festival.
