Valentina Todino

Educator, Community engagement officer, Collector of community stories through videos

I have been working on building video archives of interviews with speakers of other languages living in Devon and as a community engagement person. I'm interested in matters of identity and self narration, translation of identity and language issues. I work in collaboration with the Modern Languages Department at University of Exeter and at the moment we are preparing the students to go out in the community and interview more foreign language speakers through a brand new module called 'Transcultural Devon'. Our previous project was funded by the AHRC. I have worked in collaboration with local film-makers David Salas to produce final short films made up of the interviews. I have collaborated with Exeter Phoenix, Exeter Library, Exeter College, Devon Development Education, Exeter Communities Together and with Maketank, in different roles.

I'm an Honorary Associate Research Fellow of University of Exeter.
