Connections Conference

Bringing together those working with community and culture to celebrate, challenge and learn how best we can contribute to the wellbeing of our City.

February 17 2022   12.30 – 5.30pm

All’s Well, Exeter Community Centre, 17 St David’s Hill, Exeter

All’s Well and the Thriving Communities network* are delighted to invite you to the first Connections Conference. This event will be a wonderful opportunity to get together to share successes, challenges and questions relating to arts, heritage and culture at work in the community, and to learn from each other how we can make our best contributions to a healthy, thriving city.

There will be presentations to inspire and provoke us, time for questions and discussion, and a Community and Cultural Initiatives Fair which we would love you to contribute to. We particularly want to hear about projects and initiatives that have made innovative or surprising connections, using the creative diversity and heritage of Exeter and Devon to develop engagement, belonging and wellbeing with a range of participants. Your experiences and knowledge are real assets to us all so please do bring a display about your work.

Next steps:

  • Put the date in your diary

  • RSVP to reserve your place/s

  • Spread the word: guests will be limited to 60 but we want the widest participation possible

  • Let us know if you would like space in the Community and Cultural Initiatives Fair so we can book you a space.

We are open to suggestions about the content of the afternoon, so do get in touch and tell us what you would like to see and hear. Otherwise we will be back in touch in the New Year.

The email address for correspondence about the conference is pippa.marriott@eccentre.org

Just over a year ago when the Thriving Communities fund was announced by The National Academy for Social Prescribing and the Arts Council.  Exeter City Council and Exeter Culture connected up organisations and groups who might apply to share advice, and their list straddles health and community and arts and culture.  That group has continued to meet and members from it are on the steering group for this conference. All’s Well – a partnership between Exeter Community Centre Trust, St Nicholas Priory and Devon and Exeter Medical Heritage Trust - was successful in their bid and as part of their remit is hosting the conference to help encourage an ongoing network.  We have been encouraging community building and volunteering through interaction with heritage, for example through developing a St David’s Trail.
